At The Mustard Seed store in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, we offer bulk Dehydrated Vegetables, Sea Vegetables, and Sprouting Seeds, Berries, and Beans. Now you can get them right here! We believe that they provide highly concentrated sources of nutrition.

Important Facts About Dehydrated Vegetables

Dehydrated vegetables retain more of their nutritional value and taste than either canned or frozen vegetables. Studies reveal that canned vegetables lose 60-80% of their nutritional value because of the high temperatures and immersion in water during the period of preparation. Frozen vegetables lose 40-60% of their nutritional value because moisture expands when frozen causing the food cells to rupture. Dehydrated vegetables only lose 3-5% of their value because of low heat during the drying cycle and gentle air flow.

Why Sea Vegetables?

Sea vegetables are wild ocean plants. They are concentrated sources of minerals and trace elements at levels much greater than those found in land vegetables. They also provide vitamins, fiber, enzymes, and high quality protein. Since sea vegetables contain such high concentrations of nutrients, a little goes a long way, making the initial higher cost an actual nutritional bargain.

Sprouting

Sprouts carry plenty of the vitamins, minerals, protein, and enzymes necessary for the body to function optimally. They are easily digested and assimilated, easy and inexpensive to grow. In winter they are especially appreciated when the quality of fresh vegetables are declining as their price increases.
